My name is Neville ORMEROD, Neville Stuart Ormerod. I was born at 45 Hillyard Street, Elton, Bury, Lancashire, England on -------, 1936 and baptised in the Zion Methodist Church, Warth, Radcliffe, Lancashire, England on November 6th. 1941.

My parents were Rupert Ormerod, son of Tom Ormerod and Florence Smith; and Alice Irene Elliott, daughter of Hiram Elliott and Ada Clegg (see Family Tree page for details of my parents and grandparents).

After a childhood in Bury, my parents moved to Stretford (South Manchester) when I was aged 11. I attended Stretford Grammar School until the age of 16.

I married Sheila Margaret Clarkson, daughter of Thomas Edward Clarkson and Frances Brocklehurst, in St. Anne's Church, Sale, Cheshire, England on August 17th, 1957. The witnesses were Irene Frances Clarkson (Sheila's sister) and Graham Gosling Cantrell (my brother-in-law). The vicar, Winston Gordon Huslow, conducted the ceremony.

My early working days were spent as an analytical chemist in the metal industry. In 1961 I took up an appointment with Manchester Corporation working in water pollution control.

I was to stay in this field of work, working for various Local Authorities in the Greater Manchester area in a managerial capacity. I was transferred to North West Water in 1974. Towards the end of my career I worked as a planning officer until retirement in November 1994. I took early retirement to look after Sheila in her fight against a brain degenerate condition.
